Blog reflection crtic
1. Which projects did you review?
I reviewed Elias project "Made of Itself", Linda's "Welcome To Wonderland", and Joe's "The Queen City".

3. What challenges did you face in writing the critique article and how did you overcome them?
the challenges I faced were understanding them. With Elias Exhbit I really didn't understand what he was going for then as I keep going, I started to see what was his motive but I felt like as a critic he needed to do better because if I could not understand others may not either.
4. How do you feel about critiquing your peers work?

5. Would you like to read the critique your peers wrote about your Art Curation Project?
Yes, that way I can know what I did wrong and what I need to work on.

In the
first video, “Greenberg on Art Criticism: An interview by T.J Clark.
In this video the topic was mainly about the evolution of art criticism and the issues on modernist painting. As well as Greenberg’s
career and his place in many aspects. The second video “An introduction to
the Italian Renaissance” in this video it shows how artists developed their
techniques and images that represent the Romans influence on
the Renaissance of art. The third video, “The Critics: Stories from the
Inside Pages” the film focused on the journey that Dr. Dwight went through in
order to answer a specific question. The result was a look at criticism
as an art form. Lastly in “The Colonial Encounter: Views of Non-Western Art and
Culture, the film focused on the 1900 World’s Fair. That was the time that
promoted the celebration of different ethnicity. Numerous
photographs, posters, and clips from renowned art historians all around the
world.
All fours videos relate to my Art criticism project. These videos have a connection to what I have done because it gave an outline to show what the process is when giving criticism.
My opinions on the films were they were very interesting. They made my understanding of the project and its importance in many ways. The films all had great information which was easy to follow by and it gave me an outline as to what I could do with my project.
Blog reflection
In creating my exibition slide show I thought of Italy and how beautiful it is. Italy is a place that I always wanted to visit and I have plans on visiting some day. So this inspired me to create this slideshow.
I began looking up italian art and beautiful places in italy that I would like to visit and the food and wine that the italians drink and eat. I also done my reserach to do a little background informantion as well.
I also looked up the artist that drew these paintings that I found to get a little history about them and their motives. All in all, this project was a good one because it taught me a lot and made my project come to life.

blogs 13 and 14
1. The first two videos were very interesting and they all were around the subject of pop music and how it relates back to art. This form of music has inspired artist to create certain works of art that are outstanding and can relate to other artists. Some artist even use these works of art as their album covers. The last two were about archelogist and how they dug up deceased people just to study their bones. They have found that deceased native americans are being dug up from thier gaves so that archelogist can study their bones. Finally, the last video was about art museums and how they are never finished, new work is always being introduced, so art museums are never boring.
2. Yes, these video relate to my creation beacuse my last project that I did with the mask I did it based off my personality, favorite singer, love for fashion, and my favorite colors.
3. My opinon on ecah film was okay. I enjoyed the first two because everyone had so much light and loved how pop music related to art and that is how such works such as the pin up girl tatoos came about. The last two were kind of depressing but informative and it made me think more about how other people around the world are suffering because of the stupidity that others do.

The two videos I selected
were “Abstract Expressionism and Pop: Art of the 50’s and 60’s. As well as “Isamu Noguchi." I chose these two videos because
their titles seemed interesting.
The videos related to the readings because it gave a review of the artists and topics that were discussed before. The videos elaborated more on these topics in a visual way.
The
films was pretty interesting. The films
held a lot of information. I liked how the readings connect to the videos and they are easy to understand. It was helpful being able to see what was
discussed in the book visually.

Two videos that I chose to
look at was “Matisse and Picasso”, “The Impact of Cubism”, “Dada and
Surrealism”, and lastly “Expressionism”. I chose these because there titles
seemed interesting.
In the first video “Matisse and Picasso” the main concept was learning about the relationship between Matisse and Picasso. The video gave many examples of paintings that were created. In the second video “The Impact of Cubism," this video explained how Cubism came about and the impact it had on the 20th century. This film as well focuses on different pieces of artwork that were created using this element.
The videos related to the readings because the videos showed a lot of what was in the textbook. The videos were a more vidual review of what was in the textbook.
The films were good. I enjoyed watching them, they were well put together and entertaining. The videos added more depth to my understanding on the different topics.

blog 10 art project
I chose all three of these masks because the represent my personality. The first one is the funny out going side of me. It represents how much fun I love to have and how I make people laugh. The second mask is supposed to represent danger. I chose this one because I do have a dangerous side to me that comes out when I get extremely mad. So this mask is an example of that side. The last mask I chose is a representation of dance. The dance that is used when using this mask is to thank the gods. This represents me because everyday I thank god for everything I have and I dance because I am happy.
Description of mask one: Colombia, 7.6 inches, painted wood. This mask was made for the tourist trade, it exaggerates the features of the mountain dwelling Indian people of the area.
The second mask is called Pumbu, which is one of the three types of helmet masks owned by Pende chiefs, and is considered the most dangerous. The performer dresses in the chief's garb and brandishes a warrior's bow, arrow, and sword, symbolizing the chief's power to make war and execute criminals (in pre-colonial times). The interlacing diamond pattern signifies chiefship; the mask's white rimmed eyes express uncontrolled anger. The mask appears only in times of social crisis, when the chief must assert his authority. The performer must be restrained by ropes, and onlookers are kept at a safe distance by young men wielding whips. At the end of the dance, the mask breaks loose and kills a stray animal (chicken or goat) to display its deadly power. According to one scholar, "Pumbu depicts the courage that the chief must sometimes muster to address life-and-death issues."
The last mask is Shigong dance masks. They were used in shamanic rituals to thank the gods, while nuo dance masks protected from bad spirits.
Some of the elements that were in my painting were line, rthym, and shapes. It had rhythem because of the different shapes that were on the mask and the music note that I added on to it. Line because the line on the top of the mask are used to represent the piano which represents music. I also used the shapes that are on there to make it look exotic.
I believe my mask represents who I am as a person. A person that is very nice and kind. Who loves music and loves to be pretty. Even though she may have a dark side, she tries not to let anyone get the best of her.

Blog 10 video review
The four videos that I chose were “Buddhism”,
“Chinese Art: Treasures of the National Palace Museum," “The Great Wave: Japanese
Art”, and lastly “African Art”. I chose these videos because I wanted to learn more about them.
The first video “Buddhism," was about the spread of the religion and how It came about. This video focused on the different places where Buddhism became a huge hit such as Mahabodhi Temple. The second video “Chinese Art: Treasures of the National Palace Museum” is mainly about thirty-three different pieces of art work and how it has influenced the Chinese culture. The pieces are very hard to find, unless it is seen in the museums where they are displayed. The third video “The great Wave: Japanese Art” shows the story of the great wave. Lastly the fourth video “African Art” this film was about the culture of the African tribes. This video focuses on the artistic expressions and the importance of it to the people of Africa.
The videos related to the readings from the book in many ways. The textbook is always very informative about the different things we are learning. The videos however, give us a realistic view of it and help us understand what it going on more better.
My opinions of the films were that they were all good and it helped me understand things better. I enjoyed watching the films because it helped me see and understand the situation in a visual manner.

blog 9 art making
When doing this project I did not find it difficult having to use my hands as the subject matter. I found this project entertaining and fun because it was easier to look at all the details since it is my hand. It kind of reminded me of being back in kindergarden.
The media I chose to use for this project was a pencil. Pencil because when I make a mistake I can be able to erase and start over. A pencil is also easier to grasp than charcoal.
When drawing with my non-dominate hand it was much more difficult for me sine I do not use that hand for writing or drawing purposes. using this hand, made the process much slower and the drawing of my hand was not as good.
Based on my final drawings, predictions were right. I knew that my left handed picture would most likely come out looking much better than the picture using my dominant hand.
I would not consider using my non dominant hand to create artwork in the future. My hand is awkward to draw with and I already have bad hand writing which makes it worse. When using this hand I am less able to control my movement as I do with my left hand.

The two videos that I chose to watch were “The Drawings of Michelangelo" and “Leonardo da Vinci: The Mind of the Renaissance." I chose these two videos because their titles were interesting and it made me want to learn more about them.
When watching “The Drawings of Michelangelo” the main
concept of this video was a comparison of the different pieces of work that
he created and it as well focuses on the tools, and techniques artist use. In
the second video
“Leonardo Da Vinci: The Mind of the Renaissance” I learned
the life of Leonardo from birth to his death which was sad but also very interesting.
All these videos can relate to the readings from
the book in many ways. These videos show
is more in debt of what actally happend in the renaissance and what the artist had
contributed during this time. The book explained that but it is always better to watch then to read.
My opinion on these films are that they were much more interesting
than last week’s videos. The films I chose to watch were very detailed
and informative. The films added more debt to what is being taught in this weeks readings.

1.The first video I chosen from
the selection was “Late Gothic Art and Architecture: England.” This era was very interesting and it really
caught the transition this style presented itself by and how it carried on from the
middle ages to the renaissance. The second video was “The Birth of the
Middle Ages.” This one was interesting, this
period came to be known as the dark one. Lastly, “Cairo Museum” interestingly I liked how this museum was known for great pieces of work
that were inside and the history behind it.
2.
In the “Late Gothic Art and Architecture: England” had one key
concept that was drastic art. This had transitioned came about because of this style.
In the second video “The Birth of the Middle Ages,” one key concept was how Japan at the time had their own version of the middle ages. This was interesting because this was something I never knew. The last key concept in “Cairo Museum” was the famous pieces that were in this museum that I found intreging.
4. My opinion on these films was bland because I did not find them entertaining as the pervious videos. In the end, the readings in the
textbook was also dragging and boring. Even though the videos were better than
the readings it was still equally boring.

Blog review
In the “Prairie Style” video I learned about Frank Lloyd Right and his style of architecture. In the video, it explained how his style changed modern architecture and it shows example of architects that were inspired by his work to create work of their own. In the second ,“Architecture: The Science of Design” It gave examples on how science can relate to architecture. Learning how science is used to figure out ways to project skyscrapers from the environment. In the last video, “Classical Architecture” it focused on the architecture of the Greek and the Romans.
All three videos had some similarities to what I read in the book. However, the video related more to the textbook but on this topic of
“Classical Architecture.” The book had a big percentage
that focused on what the Greeks and Romans, what they have brought to
architecture, and how we have be inspired by them.
The videos were okay, they were not the best. However, they were very informative and got to the point of the information needed. It gave more information compared to
the book and it was more enjoyable then reading the book.
From the selected videos I chose to watch “Last Call for
Planet Earth Sustainable Development and Architecture." The title was appealing to
and it made me want to learn more about what the video was about.
Overall, I enjoyed the video, it showed me different ways to protect the
earth from pollution and anything else that might harm the planet.

creative art 3
A. What is installation art?
Installation art is an artist genre of site specific work, they are works designed to transform the perception of the space
B. What materials are used installation art?
A broad range of everyday and natural materials are used in the creation of Installation art. Almost anything can be used depending on what the artist wants.
C. Why make installation art?
To make a statement about a space, give people the opportunity to see and experience a space in a different way and convey a message to the viewers or simple idea.
D. Which artist/installation did I find most interesting?
The most interesting one to me was Richard Wilson’s 20:50. It is a very interesting looking piece and I would like to walk through and explore the piece
From the material reviewed, Thomas Hirschhorn’s is the one who I have a connection with because my piece is very similar to the installation that I made.
The Theme that I will explore in my piece is a Representation piece. Every where I go, I make sure I represent my origins and let it be known that I am proud of both countries that I am from. Also the fact that my brother is with me every where I go.
The materials I used are a backpack, flags to represent where I hail from, a pin with my brother's face on it and the logo that I support, which is my friend's clothing line.
.
The installation will be located in my closet. My closet is filled with clothes, shoes and bags. The backpack was on a hook to show that I use it on a daily basis.
2. Description – Describe what you see. (subject matter)?
A Military black backpack, surrounded by clothes, shoes, scarfs, etc. The backpack has 3 pockets, one in the front and on both sides. One one side is the Jamaican flag, on the other is the Hondurain flag, and on the front is a pin that I got from my brother's 5th anniversary party. It was to celebrate his death but every time I carry the pin with me I know that he is always with me.
3. Formal analysis – (form) What principles and elements were used and how are they used?
___Line is used. The pictures are in a straight line. Shape is used with the different size of the flags, pin and the logo. it. Light is used by the reflection of the photo, Space is used by giving enough space to take the picture. Balance because all of the flags stay in place along with the pin. Scale because of the different sizes of the flags . Rhythm because of the repetition of the flags going from big to small

week 6 blogg review
In the first video “Through the Eyes of the Sculptor,” I got a chance to see how long of a process it is to create an incredible piece of art. From watching this video, I learned they way they made sure that stones were useful, they would use a certain tacttic, such as knocking on them to make sure that they would not break. Also, many sculptures take form in marble, clay, and stone.
In the second video “Glass and Ceramics”, The most two traditional glass-making techniques are glass blowing and stained glass windows. Glass is made from sand, it is set in fire with other components. Lastly, glass windows and how certain colors are used to make sure it portrays light. It is started off with a small outline of it then into a huge sketch, then numbers. I found it very interesting.
In the last video “Installation Art” Installation of art and the examples of what elements are used to represent this. The installation of art is anything that takes up space and defines the space. It is one of the most popular things to do and it all depends on what the artist wants to do.
The videos really did relate to the chapters in the book. Because the book was an introduction to what we would be learning for the week. However, All three of these videos illustrated the information in more depth. For example, the book explained the different materials used when making a sculpture in a video.
The first two films “Through the Eyes of the Sculptor” and “Glass and Ceramics” were the best for the fact that it was entertaining. It showed the most information and it was a learning experience. On the other hand, the last video was a bore, it pretty much put me to sleep. All the videos explained a lot more then what the book did. So it was better.

When looking at both these artists bloggs about elements and principles, I believe they did a good job by describing what exactly was going on and also describing they way colors work. I just wish Metro had pictures to actually show what he was talking about.
In project two, both these artists did not have the same photos which were even better because that made my pictures unique and they also did not have the same photos as well, so I got to see different works of art in both of them.
In dixie's Pictures I liked how she had different pictures of people to show art and it made it special because it was everyday people. I felt like I can be one of those people.
What I feel about the process of reading my peers reflections is fair because we all got a chance to see what we are doing as a class and how can we relate to each other when it comes to art. I would say this is valuable learning.
In reading my comments I found them helpful. My reader really liked my work and had positive feedback.

Trip at the art gallery
The painting that inspired me the most was the first one because it represent beauty life and spirt and that it something that I am full of. Even though it is ugly they made it look so beautiful.
I feel a connection with the fifth one because it represents everyone rasing their hand up for education. Which is a wonderful thing. As a child I always asked questions in class because I loved to learn new things and even today I still do that. So this painting just made me think of myself.
I would like to know more about the second one. Why a bed? Is there a story behind it? Why are there writings all over it? I feel like the artist was trying to send out a message of being alone but I am not so sure, but I would love to know.

Beautiful and exquisit
What I thought about creating my logo is what will I do and I will I do something to represent me and what is somnething that I love or love to do.
I came to the conclusion that I love to shop, read and look pretty so that is that is the reason why I created this logo.
This logo is good for girls because we all love to look pretty and our favorite thing to do is shop. We are also very smart and we love to learn new things.
What I learned from watching the videos and the powerpoints are that anyone can make a logo out of anything just as long as u put your mind too it. Anything creative can come into life.

Black, white and color
What I thought about creating these wheels is that it shows how colors change and how they grow. It was a fun experiment and I enjoyed doing it.
I enjoyed working with the color wheel because I love colors and it was fun to paint as well.
The most important discovery is to know that there are different shades of black, gray and white and doing this experiment proved it.

Project 1
For my first project, I chose a image that shows what movement is all about. I felt it was perfect because it shows that person in the image doing a certain type of movement repeditly.
Texture, I used an image where there is a print on the paper to show how good that paper is.
Repittition, I used a picture that shows a whole bunch of apples, that way it looks like it is repeating.
Proportion- shows an image of my son and I, he is my mini me.
Unity- shows am image of my family on our summer vacation back home in Honduras. I choose this picture because it is shows us happy and re-united.
Pattern- I used an image that shows repeating patterns.
Value- I used an image that shows a bar graph growing, its value is just increasing.
Space- I used an image that captured out of space.
Variety- for this image I chose an image that shows woman in different shapes and sizes and are all equally beautiful.
Form- shows an image where there is a box but there are forms of shapes in it growing to make something out of it.
Balence- shows a girl trying to balence on a pole.
Color- shows a flower but each part of the flower has different colors added to it.
Emphasis- I chose a picture of my brother. He passed six years ago and in that picture he just looks at peace.
Rhythm- shows my sister dancing what we call punta, while the drummers are playing the drums and my family is around cheering her on.
Shapes- my image on shapes shows a double wheel of shapes and I chose it because it just looks really cool.
Lines- the image of line just shows different forms of lines.
Harmony- I loved this picute because it is a perfect example of harmony it just looks so soulful.
Doing this project was so informative and taught me so much. It was also fun at the same time. Now I know the true elements of art.

3rd blog post
1.Color is described in different ways, but the most accurate definitions I found is that color is a visual attribute. As a result, the light is emitted. I found that color has a large affect on emotions; studies have shown that certain colors give an emotional response. For example, in the text book it says that many restaurants use decorations in red because it is belived that appetite and food increases
consumption. The color blue can be a lower person’s blood
pressure, pulse and respiration rate.
consumption. The color blue can be a lower person’s blood
pressure, pulse and respiration rate.
2. An aspect of color that is most intriguing is the connection to emotion. This aspect of color is fascinating because it is so interesting how colors can determine the way a person is feeling. For example, anytime I wear a nice bright color I feel excited and full of life. But when I wear black or grey one can tell that i am in a blue mood.
3. In the “Color” video, I loved the works created by Mark Rothko. The colors used in many of his paintings were used to bring emotions to people. His paintings were displayed in restaurants. His paintings were meant to bring out the feeling of entrapment.
4. In the “feelings” video, One of the painters name Goya did his work by using very dark colors, she felt dark colors show emotions of fear and anger. I found this
interesting because I just described this, dark colors make one feel down and blue.

Aesthetics blog
1. In the first video, “Aesthetics:
Philosophy of the Arts,” discusses the ideas of key elements in understanding
of aesthetics. Learning about the history of the philosophers from way back
from Plato to the present time taught me one thing, which was Plato’s
perspective on art. He believed that beauty was everywhere and the way one
expands their mind can find beauty in everything. Art can have a different
effect on everyone in many different ways.
In the second video two scientists shared their
insights on neurobiology and their discussion on the human experiences and
aesthetics, how people recognize things through visual conception and
stimulation of the brain. Jean-Pierre Change also discussed human evolution and
its connection to art, by analyzing the brain.
2.
The idea of beauty by Plato is most important theory to me. His time in
history, the fifth century, he discussed what his definition of beauty was. He
felt that just because something was considered a work of art it didn’t always
have to be beautiful. It was only considered beautiful depending on the
person’s perspective. Plato believed that beauty is what attracts that person
to the specific object, place or person.
3. Changeuxs view of aesthetics and art was what
I liked the most. He said it was interesting how he tied the human brain to
art. He showed certain sculls where he used as tools. Art played an emotion not just what looked
good, but the feeling behind what caused attraction.
On the other hand, Ramachandrans view on aesthetics
was very different. He believed that art actually has meaning and feeling. Art
is an aesthetic request of creation. He discussed the brain reactions to real
events and compared the brain reaction to what we perceive art.
4.
The videos and the readings from the text can relate in similar ways. When it
comes to reading the text, the details are more informative when it comes
aesthetics and art. While these videos shows a viewpoint of certain
individuals. There is no true definition of what art actually is. Over all the
videos show what was discussed in the textbook.
5.
The first film on the philosophers, I found the most interesting out of the
two, this is because I found it interesting when I got to learn about Plato and
his views on how he defines beauty. People can create laws and theories of art
but some may not know the true definition of art. The second video was too
extended, a bore, and hard to understand because of the man’s accent.

1. The process of creating the gmail account was not bad and was not hard at all. I already have two gmail accounts so it was no big deal. Setting up the blog was not bad at all. I just had to read the instructions and go from there.
2. What I expect to learn from this course is more about art education and how can I be able to use art within my major.
3. I feel good about taking this course online. I have had online classes before and did great on them.
